Impressive blue mosque in Malaysia

Also known as ‘The Blue Mosque’, the Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah’s striking façade beckons visitors to explore its exquisite structure. Looming 350 feet above ground and measuring 170 feet wide, its distinctive blue dome is said to be the biggest in Southeast Asia. Traditional Malay design elements dominate the mosque’s interior, while intricate Islamic calligraphy decorates its dome and main prayer hall.
the mosque is located in a park in the city centre of Sha Alam, the capitol of the state of Selangor

Building of the domed mosque finished in 1988. It was built to celebrate the city of Shah Alam being dedicated as the new capital of the state of Selangor. Worth enough to visit this if we visit Kuala Lumpur, because it is just 30 km from Kuala Lumpur, and needed approximately 37 minutes to get there. This impressive structure holds some equally impressive titles:

  1. Largest religious dome in the world.
  2. The 4 minarets are the 2nd largest in the world, although combined they represent the world’s largest group of minarets.
  3. The Blue Mosque is Malaysia’s largest mosque.
  4. It is the 2nd largest mosque in Southeast Asia.
The exterior of the mosque
The exterior of the mosque is marvelous. The writing around the dome of the mosque is from the Koran, and mosques usually all have similar geometrical designs as they are not allowed to include other designs like flowers or animals. This particular mosque’s architecture and carved designs were inspired by the Alhambra in Spain.

Hallway with marble floor
If we move to another part of this mosque, it's exactly the hallway, we will feel its luxury as well as its cool atmosphere. The walls are designed with some gaps which make good ventilation and the floors are made by marble floor. Even though the weather outside might be fierce, but we will feel cool atmosphere in this mosque.

Prayer Hall
As the second largest mosque in Southeast Asia, this blue mosque has a broad prayer hall with an amazing interior dome design made by wood. If we are in the prayer hall, we can see the wooden panels are right on the impressive dome with a ceiling lamp. For me, blue mosque is mesmerizing and a must-visited mosque if we visit Kuala Lumpur.
